Blake Lively has red carpet jitters
Blake Lively hates looking "frumpy".The 'Gossip Girl' actress - who was joined by her boyfriend and co-star Penn Badgley at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala on Monday (04.05.09) - often opts for "ethereal" outfits on the red carpet to stop her looking motherly.
She said: "My style is always changing, but I always tend to look for something more ethereal and flowy and not as straight. I don't like anything too frumpy."
The 21-year-old beauty - who has been dating the 22-year-old actor since they met on the set of the US show - wore a blue Versace gown at the exclusive gala evening.
She said: "I just love deep blue. I think it's so stunning. Everything about this dress, I just love."
Penn has revealed his girlfriend often checks her wardrobe choices with him first.
He explained: "She asks me what I think and I do the same to her, but ultimately we can wear what we want."
However, the blonde beauty insists she has no body image worries and is very relaxed about her appearance.
When asked about her fitness regime, she said: "Ask me in a month. I've been on vacation, so nothing. I ate a chicken pot pie before I came here!"

Blake Lively: "I Feel Like a Tranny a Lot of the Time"
Blake Lively might play a beautiful young socialite on the hit show Gossip Girl, but in real life, she relates more to a very different demographic. "I feel like a tranny a lot of the time," the 5-foot-10 star says to a magazine interview "I don't know, I'm ... large? They put me in six-inch heels, and I tower over every man. I've got this long hair and lots of clothes and makeup on."
The 21-year-old actress -- who says that with her blonde hair and small dog, she rarely wears pink "to avoid looking like a piece of bubble gum" -- admits that her towering height makes her a bit self conscious.
"I just feel really big a lot of the time, and I'm surrounded by a lot of tiny people," she adds. I feel like a man sometimes.”
Her boyfriend, Gossip Girl costar Penn Badgley doesn't seem to mind. The two have been dating since late 2007, although they try hard to keep the relationship private.
"You see people who will open up their relationships, who are very affectionate on the red carpet or are doing a reality show with each other, and their relationship just seems to crumble, so I decided to keep a vow of silence," Lively says.
Still, she can't help but gush about her boyfriend's talents.
"He plays any instrument he picks up," she says of the 22-year-old actor. "He bought a piano, and then two months later you would think he was a concert pianist."

CW looking to spin off "Gossip Girl"
Blake Lively smiles backstage before the start of the Miss Sixty Spring 2009 show during New York Fashion Week September 7, 2008.CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff said the network is in discussions with the show's producers as to how a new show could be done. But she said nothing has been finalized and there's no imminent announcement.
"Nothing really tangible yet, but we're talking about it," Ostroff told the Hollywood Reporter after her speech at the WWD Style + Media conference in Manhattan.
"If it's the right idea, we'd all embrace it and be enthusiastic," Ostroff added. "But nobody more than (executive producers) Josh (Schwartz) and Stephanie (Savage) want to make sure there's the right idea that they can wrap their arms around and really be excited about."
"Gossip Girl" is averaging 3.5 million viewers so far this season -- its second -- up from 2.7 million at the same point last year. The show, which revolves around privileged teens in Manhattan, stars Blake Lively, Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley.
