Permanent Idol Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham is set to be offered 3 million to become a permanent judge on 'American Idol'.
The former Spice Girl has impressed bosses with her two guest appearances on the judging panel for the US talent show and they think she has the right credentials to take over from Paula Abdul.
However, programme executives want to make sure the British star connects with the US public before offering her the job as they are concerned they may be put off by her accent and skinny frame.
A source said: "'American Idol' is the highest rated show and they don't want to pick a judge viewers don't take to. Focus groups are going to be set up to judge Victoria's performance. "There's some concern about whether viewers will think she's too skinny.
They're also worried about her accent. She's started to talk in a very posh voice and some people might struggle with that." Other stars in the running to take over from Paula - who quit earlier this month - include Mary J. Blige and Katy Perry. It was recently claimed Victoria had "facial expression" lessons before making her debut on 'American Idol'.
A source said: "Victoria knows she has a very thick British accent and is sometimes misunderstood in America.
She wanted to come across the best she could on 'American Idol', so she took some private lessons on how to properly pronounce words and how to make appropriate facial expressions. "Victoria is famous for her pout but she herself admitted she wanted to shed that pout for the show to come across more human."

Victoria Beckham adding more 'Spice' to 'Idol'
Victoria Beckham seems to be getting used to filling a fourth judge chair on "American Idol," left vacant by Paula Abdul's departure.
Fox publicist Alex Gillespie says the former Spice Girl is in Boston for callbacks. Beckham was a guest judge last Friday for opening auditions in Denver, and it was originally described as a one-time appearance.
This is the point of the show where judges give singers a golden ticket to advance to the Hollywood round.
Last week in Denver, Beckham told Fox News she was a huge fan of "American Idol" and nervous about being a judge. "My heart is about to jump out my throat," she said.
"American Idol" returns for its ninth season in January.

Victoria Beckham to Judge on 'Idol' after Abdul exit
Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham is to serve as a guest judge on hit US television show "American Idol" following the departure of Paula Abdul, network executives said Thursday.
Pop star Beckham would join the panel of judges along with singer-songwriter Katy Perry during the audition phase of the show, the Fox Broadcasting production that is the highest-rating program on US television.
Other pop stars would join the four member panel, Fox Broadcasting Entertainment chairman Peter Rice said, without identifying them.
"Between now and January we'll come up with a more permanent solution," Rice told journalists. Guest judges would serve alongside regulars Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi, he said.
Rice said the departure of Abdul, confirmed on Tuesday as the show prepared for its ninth season, would bring a "different dynamic" to the programme.
"There will be a different element, a different energy," Rice said, revealing that Abdul had been offered an improved contract after a previous agreement which expired in May.
"We have been talking to her for most of the season," Rice said. "We very much wanted her to return. In the past few weeks, the negotiations have come to a conclusion.
"We made an offer that we feel was very fair to Paula. It was a substantial raise on the money she's been paid in the past and Paula has decided not return. It is something that was not our choice."
"American Idol" was exported to the United States from Britain in 2002, rapidly establishing itself as the most watched show on US television and a pop-culture phenomenon.
The program aims to unearth the next big singing talent and past contestants such as Carrie Underwood and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson have gone on to forge successful careers in the entertainment industry.
Abdul meanwhile is being tipped to resurface as a judge on another US television hit "So You Think You Can Dance."
"I don't know anyone who has the experience she has -- dancer, performer, choreographer and judge," the show's executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said.
"I have been trying to get her since season one."

Victoria Beckham's business success
The former Spice Girls star is desperate to remain in Los Angeles with her husband David Beckham and their three sons - Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, six and four-year-old Cruz - while she concentrates on her thriving fashion business.
According to Britain's Hello! magazine, the 35-year-old fashion icon - who has her own denim brand, dVb Style - will to appear on the cover of a prestigious US publication later this year.
A source said: "It's all been kept very hush-hush, but she's going to be a cover star in the autumn. To say it's a huge coup is an understatement. For Victoria to have achieved that, for her own business successes, means she's considered a superstar in her own merits. She is beyond thrilled."
The British star is now determined to enjoy family life in Hollywood.
The source added: "The boys adore the lifestyle and have made really good friends. They're getting good grades and glowing report cards, so uprooting them is the last thing
on their parents' minds."

Victoria Beckham to reduce breasts
Victoria Beckham has reportedly had a third breast operation.
The former Spice Girls singer has allegedly had implants taken out of her chest, reducing her bust from a size 34DD to a 34B.
The alleged operation is believed to be part of a restyle for Victoria - who is married to soccer star David Beckham - to change her image from that of a soccer wife to a fashion designer.
A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Victoria has wanted her implants taken out for a while. She felt that was part of her old image - the big hair, big boobs, fake tan - and that she has moved on since those days.
"She had the operation three weeks ago and is very pleased with the results. After the procedure she came to London for business then went to France to heal properly in private."
Victoria is said to have originally had a bust-boosting operation in 1999 in London to increase her chest from a natural 34A to a 34D. She is then reported to have enlarged her breasts further two years later to a 34DD.
The 35-year-old star has never publicly confirmed having the operations.
Victoria is believed to be resting with her family on the French Riviera for two weeks before returning to Los Angeles where she presently lives with her and David's children Brooklyn, 10, Cruz, four and Romeo, six.
David is in Italy where he is playing for soccer team AC Milan.

Victoria Beckham leaving LA?
The former Spice Girl - who is currently living in Los Angeles with her three sons while soccer star husband David plays for AC Milan - has decided she can no longer be apart from her spouse and wants them all to live under the same roof.
A source said: "Victoria loves America but all the flying back and forward is starting to take its toll, and being apart from David has been really hard for them both. She loves her friends and her life in Los Angeles, but it doesn't make up for the fact she is so far away from her husband.
At heart, she is a mum and a wife and she wants to do what is best for her family. "Victoria hated the idea of moving to Milan at first, but she's warmed to it. Plus, she doesn't want David to be on his own too long away from her and the kids."
David - who has been in Italy since January - is due to return to America next month to resume his contract with Los Angeles but it is thought AC Milan want to sign him on a permanent basis for next season, which starts in August.
Victoria is now searching for a family home and a school for their boys, Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, six, and four-year-old Cruz.
The source added to Britain's Star magazine: "Victoria has said the kids were hoping to stay in Los Angeles, where they have settled in, especially Brooklyn. But they are used to moving a lot now.
They're well-rounded kids, so Victoria isn't worried about them adjusting to a new home and a new school."

But now Victoria Beckham – who once proclaimed that she ‘hates working out’ – has signed up for a programme of exercise classes in the hope they will boost her pelvic muscles.
Posh has joined Hollywood’s ultra-exclusive The Sports Club LA, a private members’ gym that costs £1,500 a year – plus a £250 monthly fee.
An insider at the gym told The Mail on Sunday that the mother of three, who turned 35 on Friday, has enrolled in private Pilates classes, which promise to strengthen and tone core stomach and back muscles – and boost pelvic strength.
The source said: ‘Victoria has signed up for private Pilates classes. She comes into the gym at least three times a week and her husband David joins her for Pilates when he’s in town.
‘Pilates is specifically aimed at building up the core muscles and is particularly good for women who want to strengthen their body.

Victoria Beckham's girly birthday
The former Spice Girls singer turns 35 today (17.04.09) but had an early celebration with her friends at Los Angeles restaurant Cecconi's on Wednesday (15.04.09).
A source told gossip website X17: "They all arrived at around 9.30pm and left at around 1.20am - a long dinner. They were seated at a huge table on the outside terrace. They all looked gorgeous and happy to be there celebrating their friend's birthday. They ate, drank, and sang 'Happy Birthday' to her."
The eatery is an off-shoot of London Cecconi's and is renowned for its delicious food at reasonable prices - a three-course meal including wine costs around 80. The group ate gnocchi and swordfish washed down with Moet champagne.
The mother-of-three decided to celebrate with her friends early as she is planning to spend her special day with family. Although her soccer star husband David Beckham will be away in Italy - where he is currently on loan to AC Milan - he organised a romantic meal for his wife while she was visiting him last week.
Victoria's girls' night out marked the first time Katie has been seen in public since her brother-in-law died unexpectedly of heart failure. Joseph Jeffrey Fretti, 48 - the husband of Katie's older sister Tamera - was found by family members in his mother's Florida home on Sunday (12.04.09).

David Beckham's Valentine's surprise
The soccer star travelled from Milan to the UK on Saturday night (07.02.09) to spend one day with fashion designer Victoria.
He booked a room at exclusive hotel Claridges and showered her with expensive flowers and chocolates. Earlier on Saturday night Victoria was spotted dining alone at Locanda Locatelli restaurant.
A source said: "It was the only chance they had to meet up in their hectic schedules."
David, 33, then jetted off late on Sunday night (08.02.09) to meet up with the England soccer squad in Seville ahead of their friendly match against Spain on Wednesday (11.02.09).
Being called up for the match ruined the couple's original plan to spend the weekend together in Milan - where David is on loan from US team Los Angeles Galaxy to Italian club AC Milan.
The source added: "Victoria is off to New York Fashion Week and David has his commitments with England and AC Milan."
The couple will be apart on Valentine's Day this Saturday (14.02.09) because of their schedules.
After Wednesday's match, David will fly straight back to Milan to rejoin his club ahead of their important derby match against arch rivals Inter Milan on Sunday (15.02.09).

Victoria Beckham's lingerie run
Armani, who is good friends with the couple, praised Victoria calling her "a stylish and intriguing woman". The singer - who has three children with soccer player husband David - reportedly hates stripping off for the camera, but couldn't refuse the 12 million deal.
A source said: "Posh vowed never to do an underwear shoot again but the offer by Giorgio was too good to turn down." The film-noir style images were shot by renowned photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, who also took the photos of David for his Armani campaign last year.
The Los Angeles Galaxy player caused controversy when his advertisement was unveiled, with some critics claiming the images had been airbrushed to make him appear well-endowed.
