Mariah Carey's marriage trilogy

Mariah Carey is to marry Nick Cannon for a third time this month.

The couple - who originally tied the knot in 2008 - plan to renew their vows again on April 30, their two-year wedding anniversary, with the singer already demanding more expensive jewellery from her spouse to mark the occasion.

Nick said: "We get married every year! That's our thing. So it's going to be our third wedding this year. That's what we'll be doing on the actual anniversary... We'll do something... a party or event, just to celebrate. This is the third ring I have to buy. It'll be something different - something good."

According to leaked details of her 2010 tour rider, the 'Hero' singer is just as demanding backstage as she is with her husband.

The rider specifies that Mariah's dressing room space has "no busy patterns" although "black, dark grey, cream and dark pink" are all fine, and she should also be provided with a "lamp or clip light", so harsh lighting can be turned off.

The 41-year-old star is also very particular about the temperature of the room, 75 degrees Fahrenheit, while she likes to be surrounded by two dozen white roses and vanilla aromatherapy candles in order to unwind after a show.

Mariah recently admitted she loves being known as a diva - but doesn't think she is demanding enough.

She said: "You know what? I guess I am a diva in many ways! When it comes to certain things, yes, I can be difficult and a little bit rigid about what I want. Am I demanding? I don't think I'm demanding enough."

Mariah Carey's album appetite

Mariah Carey has gained 15lbs during the recording of her new album.

The 'Hero' singer is gorging on calorific treats as she works on her next release and is embracing her new, curvier figure.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Mariah loves food. Right now she's making an album and eating everything and anything she wants. She has put on about 15lbs, but she loves the curves."

However, the 40-year-old star - who is married to rapper Nick Cannon - will undergo a strict fitness regime when she has to promote the LP.

The source added: "She'll definitely tone up again when she releases her album, but as of now, she's stuffing her face."

Although she is satisfying her appetite, Mariah recently revealed the stress of recording new material has led to sleepless nights.

The 'Honey' hitmaker is struggling to drop off at night and has taken to watching her husband Nick Cannon doze peacefully while she is wide awake.

She wrote on her Twitter page: "I just finished working out. Whooo! Quite naturally, 'its 5am and I still can't sleep'(sung like 'crybaby' from 'Rainbow' 99)lol Who's up?

"Nick is too cute when he's sleep! I wish he didn't have to work tomorrow so he could help me sleep all day and I could sing all nite (sic)!"

Mariah Carey gets ready for girl

Actress Mariah Carey arrives for the premiere of the film "Push" during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah January 16, 2009.

Mariah Carey has reportedly been buying baby items.

The singer - who is said to have made an offer on a $125 million French Chatreau-style mansion in Los Angeles - has sparked rumours she is expecting a girl after splashing out $200,000 on items including a pink crib and highchair. She has also consulted an interior decorator for advice on styling a nursery.

A source said: "It's 45,000 sq ft and looks like a European castle. It's so big, it can't even be called a mansion - it's similar to Buckingham Palace! "

She has asked interior decorator Kenneth Bordewick to advise on her new home and has requested an all-pink nursery. It's going to be over the top!" Despite planning the baby room, Mariah - who married Nick Cannon in a secret ceremony last year - is not believed to be pregnant.

A source said: "Mariah has tossed around the idea of adopting."

The couple were seen leaving a Beverly Hills' Southern California Reproductive Center earlier this month, where they reportedly met with a prenatal specialist.

Mariah, 38, is said to be desperate to give birth before she turns 40 next March. However, Nick, 28, is not ready to rush into starting a family. He said recently: "We'll have kids soon. Like a couple of years soon."

Mariah Carey visits fertility clinic

Singer Mariah Carey arrives at the 24th annual Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, California February 21, 2009.

Mariah Carey has been visiting a fertility clinic.

The 38-year-old singer and her husband Nick Cannon - who married last year following a whirlwind romance - were seen leaving a Beverly Hills' Southern California Reproductive Center last week, where they reportedly met with a prenatal specialist.
A source told gossip blogger Perez Hilton: "Nick and Mariah are trying anything and everything to conceive. After almost a year of trying to natural way, they visited a fertility clinic to help make their baby dream come true."

Mariah is said to be desperate to give birth before she turns 40 next March.

The renowned centre is one of the leading in vitro fertilisation (IVF) clinics in California.

Jennifer Lopez - who has one-year-old twins Max and Emme - is said to have been a previous patient.

The couple have made no secret of their desire to start a family, with Nick admitting he wants a large brood.

He said: "We'll multiply. That's what's got to happen."

Mariah has also revealed she is ready to become a mother, but finds the constant speculation about whether she is expecting tiresome.

She said: "I don't like to talk about it too much. I just think about it as the next phase. We'll see.

"I've changed my mind about becoming a mother because I'm with 'The One'. I think we would make good parents, and that we'd be able to figure out how to do it properly."

Mariah Carey stars in grim "Push"

Singer Mariah Carey has taken part in a new movie "Push," and this time Carey has opted for a supporting part in this often grim tale.

In fact, the real star of "Push," which debuted this past weekend at Sundance, is an unknown actress from Harlem, Gabourney Sidibe, playing an obese and overburdened 16-year-old named "Precious" Jones who is twice impregnated by her father and is beaten by her mother.

Singer Mariah Carey (L) of the U.S. poses after receiving the Special Achievement Award from singer Alicia Keys of the U.S. during the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo November 9, 2008.

Yet, she also has adults who look out for her, and one of those is welfare case worker, Mrs. Weiss, played by Carey.

With her stringy hair and no nonsense attitude, Mrs. Weiss is far from the glamorous role Carey took in 2001's "Glitter," which was loosely based on her own rise to pop music stardom.

But that movie was panned by critics and earned only $5.3 million at global box offices. Since then, Carey has starred in a few movies, but for the most part they have been seen only on TV, DVD or outside the United States.

"Push," however, is based on a best-selling novel and directed by Lee Daniels who produced "Monster's Ball," which earned Halle Berry a best actress Oscar. So curiosity was running high at Sundance to see how Carey performed.

At least one early review was positive. Show business paper Daily Variety called "Push," "courageous and uncompromising," and added that "among the many delightful surprises in the film is Mariah Carey, who is pitch-perfect as a welfare counselor and serves as this demi-tragedy's Greek chorus."

In "Push," Carey has chosen the small but pivotal role of a woman who unravels Precious' monstrous home life of abuse and teenage motherhood.

"Mrs. Weiss is sort of the eyes of the audience, the people who don't know anybody like this in their lives," Carey told reporters late Saturday.

"Yes it's her job ... but even someone who goes through that every day and sees these horrific things, she hears something that changes her," Carey said about the range of emotions she must show as Mrs. Weiss.

Despite its dark material, the film had Sundance audiences laughing at several comic scenes, revolving around surrealistic dreams Precious creates to escape. In one, she sees herself and her mother transported into a Sophia Loren movie playing on television, where her mom curses at her in Italian.

"Push" is based on a novel of the same name by New York writer Sapphire, whose given name is Ramona Lofton. The book proved controversial when it hit retail stories in 1996 because of its graphic description of incest, but it also made it to the New York Times Bestseller list.

"I was just glued to this book when I read it in, I guess '98, and it stays with you," Carey said.
Carey is not the only Grammy-winning singer in the movie. Rocker Lenny Kravitz plays a small role as a nurse's aide who helps Precious deliver her second child.

That star power could help give the film wider release in the U.S. and internationally. The filmmakers are still in talks with studios to find a distributor.

Is Carey, Cannon marriage already on the rocks?

Not yet married two months, inside sources are predicting newlyweds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon already face trouble and their marriage may not last six months, reports Life & Style.

Sources tell the magazine Mariah's diva demands may be to blame.

"I give the marriage six months, tops," said a source close to the singer. "I can't see it lasting."
The insider claims that the reason behind that gloom-and-doom prediction is Nick's need to do everything for his diva bride. While Mariah likes being waited on hand and foot, that routine won't work in the long run.

"Nick does whatever Mariah wants him to — he's like her puppy," the insider continued. "It seems like Nick spends more time in the stores with Mariah's credit card than he does with Mariah herself."

But a source close to the groom doesn't see the problem, insisting, "(Mariah) needs someone to dote on her."

Not so, according to Mariah's pal, who believes Nick needs to be his own man.

"Mariah’s assistants and friends call him 'Whipped Nick' behind his back," the Mariah insider told Life & Style. "They have little respect for him because he won't stand up for himself."

Mariah Carey wants a weddng every year

Mariah Carey wants a wedding every year

Newlywed pop star Mariah Carey wants to get "married" every year.

The Touch My Body singer and new husband Nick Cannon, who wed in a secret ceremony in April, plan to tie the knot annually.

She said: "Nick's plan is to have one wedding every year. I think instead of trying to be like, 'You're invited, but shhh, don't tell anybody', we're just going to have another wedding next year."

Mariah, 38, admits there were more hairdressers and stylists than guests at her wedding.

She told US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: "It was most attended by people who were responsible for my hair and people helping me with the dress. There were only three of my friends and Nick had three people with him. There weren't a lot of people taking pictures!"

The pop superstar, who is divorced from music mogul Tommy Mottola, believes she has found her soulmate in Nick -- who she first met on the video for her new single Bye Bye.

Echoing Nick's half-brother Reuben Cannon’s insistence the couple will have children soon, Mariah said: "I always said if I found the right person who I felt would be on the same page as me in term of raising kids and having the same belief system, we'd have kids.

"I've always had a weird thing about it because my parents divorced when I was three and I didn't have many examples of what was the 'norm’."
