Naomi Campbell's temper tears

Naomi Campbell broke down in tears as she blamed her notorious temper on "abandonment issues".

The supermodel was questioned by TV host Oprah Winfrey, who confronted her frankly about her temper - which has seen her previously lash out at her own staff, camera crews, police officers and airline workers.

Naomi blamed her furious outbursts on her mother, who left her at home while she pursued a career as a ballet dancer.

When asked by Oprah if she was "just a petulant diva", she replied: "It comes from a deeper place than that with me. It comes from another type of emotional disorder because it's not just, if I don't get what I want I throw a fit.

"It comes from, I think, an abandonment issue and it comes from also trying to just build up a family around me that's not my immediate family and if I feel a mistrust, then, all my cards go down. It's not a right thing to do. I just see red."

Naomi - who is 40 this month - admitted she is ashamed of her fits of rage and is remorseful every time her temper gets the better of her.

She added: "I take responsibility for the things that I have done and I do feel a great sense of shame. I am ashamed of everything I've ever done. I don't have an excuse for my behaviour."

In 2000, Naomi pleaded guilty to assaulting her personal assistant and in 2003 she was sued by another assistant who claimed she had thrown her telephone at her.

Just a year later, the 39-year-old model was accused of slapping her maid around the face and in 2005 another personal assistant accused Naomi of hitting her over the head with her BlackBerry handset.

In 2006, the catwalk beauty was arrested after she threw a jewel-encrusted mobile phone at her housekeeper.

She was arrested again in April 2008 at London's Heathrow airport on suspicion of assaulting a police officer after one of her suitcases went missing.

Naomi Campbell in quest to help Russian children

Naomi Campbell smiles during a photo opportunity at Capital City, Europe's tallest building in Moscow, April 26, 2010.

Naomi Campbell's love for Russia has inspired the British supermodel to raise money for the country's underprivileged children, she said on Monday.

"I'm living here... everyone has been very nice to me and welcoming and I wanted to give back," a smiling Campbell, 39, told Reuters in an interview in the Russian capital.

Spending part of the year in Moscow with her Russian boyfriend and property mogul Vladimir Doronin, the model has become a regular fixture at the city's fashion shows and elite boutiques, sometimes clad in Russian-designed frocks.

Though she has a history of brushes with the law in the West, she is much-loved by Russia's champagne-quaffing new rich and is the first major foreign star to live in the country.

In late May Campbell hopes to raise at least $1 million at her fundraiser, called NEON, for two Russian charities which provide education, medicine and training for children.

The money will be split between The Iris Foundation, run by Daria Zhukova, her friend and the girlfriend of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, and Northern Crown, managed by the wife of Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin, Irina.

Sculptures by British artist Antony Gormley and works by U.S. painter Richard Prince will be auctioned with other pieces of art by London's Sotheby's at the event.

Zhukova, an established Moscow socialite who runs the sleek Moscow gallery 'Garage', will attend, along with a slew of international fashion stars and Britain's Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.

"I love doing things with kids.... I think what's great is that Moscow will be the first," said Campbell, brushing back her thick black hair which touched the top of a white t-shirt supporting NEON.

She added that she hopes to take NEON to other countries after Russia.

Naomi Campbell set for Bollywood role

Supermodel Naomi Campbell takes part in the Mai Mumbai fashion show during the second day of the Lakme fashion week in Mumbai March 28, 2009. The charity show was organised to pay tribute to last year's Mumbai attack victims.

Naomi Campbell is set to star in a Bollywood movie.

The British supermodel wowed casting directors during her appearance at the Fashion For Relief fundraiser in Mumbai last week and is now planning to return to India to audition for her first major film role.

A source said: "Naomi had never modelled in India before but she loved every minute. "At the end of the show, two well-known Bollywood producers approached her and asked if she'd be interested in screen testing. "

Naomi was incredibly flattered and plans to come back to Mumbai for more talks whenever she next has a break in her schedule." Although Naomi may be keen to launch a movie career, she admits her previous ventures away from modelling have not been as successful.

The 38-year-old-beauty tried to become a pop star in 1995, but her album 'Baby Woman' flopped.

She said: "I must say that I am not a great singer. I gave it a try but it didn't really work. I had a song 'La-La-La Love Song' which had a video heavily influenced by India. "Even where Indian fashion is concerned, I love the clothes - the sari.

Also, Indian women are very pretty and they carry themselves very well."

Naomi Campbell's tearful birthday

Naomi Campbell's tearful birthday

Naomi Campbell broke down in tears at her 38th birthday party. The supermodel celebrated the occasion with a VIP party on rapper P. Diddy's yacht in Cannes, France, on Wednesday night (21.05.08).

However, although Naomi appeared to be happy when she arrived, she left the party at 3am looking distraught and tearful. While the reason for her upset is not clear, Naomi and Diddy have a chequered past.

At last year's Grammy Awards after-show party hosted by Jermaine Dupri, the pair had a vicious confrontation. Onlookers claimed the hip-hop mogul started screaming obscenities at her and even shouted at her male companion, 'Iron Man' actor Terrence Howard.

Meanwhile, Campbell caused controversy earlier this week when she took a convicted criminal to a red carpet event at the world famous Film Festival. She was accompanied by Christophe Rocancourt - who conned rich investors out of millions of dollars in a string of scams - to the premiere of Steven Soderbergh's new movie 'Che'.

After admitting three counts of fraud, 41-year-old Rocancourt was sentenced to five years in prison and fined $9 million.
