Kristen Stewart is to become the face of Balenciaga fragrances.

The 'Twilight Saga' actress - who has previously confessed to not knowing much about the fashion world - is excited to be involved with the "cool" brand, as she has always been a big fan of the Spanish design house.

She said: "Balenciaga has always stood out to me. Even when I first began to consider fashion and admittedly rarely knew the brand I was wearing, I always knew and loved Balenciaga. It feels full circle to be involved with something that spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now. The brand is just cool. That's the way it is."

Creative director of the brand Nicolas Ghesquiere admitted Kristen - who is currently dating her 'Twilight Saga' co-star Robert Pattinson - was great for Balenciaga because of her "progressive character".

He told WWD: "Kristen embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence.

"From her early appearance in 'Panic Room' to her independent choice of 'Welcome to the Rileys', I've always sensed her progressive character. In 2006, I invited her to appear in a project shot by Bruce Weber. Since then, I've always wished to collaborate with her further, knowing that she shares the radical spirit of Balenciaga."

'Twilight' movie wins slow box office weekend

The newest "Twilight" vampire movie ruled the domestic box office for a third time with $16.9 million in ticket sales over one of the slowest movie-going weekends of the year, studio estimates released on Sunday showed.

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1" from independent studio Summit Entertainment beat a pack of family films at U.S. and Canadian theaters. The fourth and second-to-last film in one of Hollywood's most lucrative franchises added $40.2 million at international locations.

After three weekends in theaters, "Breaking Dawn" has soaked up $588.3 million in global ticket sales.

The "Twilight" movies are based on best-selling novels by Stephenie Meyer about a human-vampire-werewolf love triangle.

The third domestic win in a row for "Breaking Dawn" came during the post-Thanksgiving weekend, typically one of the bleakest of the year at movie theaters following big releases a week earlier.

This year, total U.S. and Canadian ticket sales rang up at an estimated $82 million for the weekend, making it the year's second slowest, according to Hollywood.com Box Office. Overall sales only slightly edged the $81.5 million take from the September 9 weekend that followed Labor Day.

With no new films released nationwide, sales also slumped 4.8 percent below the same weekend last year.

After "Breaking Dawn," the rest of the weekend's top five belonged to family fare.

Disney's "The Muppets" starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams alongside Kermit, Miss Piggy and their puppet friends, rang up $11.2 million at North American (U.S. and Canadian) theaters. The movie represents a comeback for the Muppet characters, last seen in movie theaters in 1999. Worldwide sales for the new film have reached $60.1 million through Sunday.

"Hugo," a 3D family movie about an orphaned boy who lives in a 1930s Paris train station, moved up to third place from its fifth place finish last weekend after expanding to more theaters. The film pulled in $7.6 million domestically, bringing its total after two weekends to $25.2 million.

Animated 3D movie "Arthur Christmas," which explains how Santa delivers presents around the world in one night, pulled in $7.4 million domestically to finish in fourth place. To date, the movie has brought in $70.6 million worldwide.

In fifth place, dancing penguin sequel "Happy Feet Two" earned $6.0 million at domestic theaters. Total global sales reached $85.8 million after three weekends of release.

Walt Disney Co released "The Muppets." Privately held Summit Entertainment released "Breaking Dawn - Part 1." "Arthur Christmas" was distributed by Sony, and Hugo was released by Paramount, a unit of Viacom Inc.. Time Warner unit Warner Bros. distributed "Happy Feet Two."

Kristen Stewart: Bella is best in Twilight

Kristen Stewart says the best character in 'The Twilight Saga' is Bella Swan.

Although she enjoys and respects the other characters in Stephenie Meyer's books, which the film franchise is based on, the 21-year-old actress believes Bella, who she portrays, is the most important persona in the vampire stories.

In an interview with Box Office Magazine, she said: "I sound so lame, but vampire Bella really is my favourite character - she's very representative of a matriarch. She's very intuitive on almost a psychic level and no one ever acknowledges it, which is interesting. And I think it's nice to see her finally get what she wants. That's probably the best thing, even if it sounds simple and indulgent, which is why the thing is criticised all the time. It's nice to see people be happy. And she really - if I've played it right - is born to be where she is."

Kristen admits it was a strange experience shooting the final two movies 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2' because the cast were saying goodbye to such a big part of their lives.

The actress also found it difficult to film scenes out of sequence because Bella undergoes so many changes over the two movies, including marrying her vampire lover Edward Cullen - played by her boyfriend Robert Pattinson - giving birth and becoming an undead bloodsucker.

Speaking about the end of the franchise, she explained: "It felt good. It was really weird. It was such a long process of the two movies being shot at the same time as if they're one. You shoot, obviously, out of order and you keep going back and forth between pregnant, human and dead vampire Bella. There's so many different versions of Bella in this, it's insane."

Pattinson: Kristen looks like an alien

Robert Pattinson thinks Kristen Stewart looks like "an alien".

The 25-year-old heartthrob - who is dating his 'Twilight' co-star, who plays Bella Swan in the vampire franchise - admitted in scenes from 'Breaking Dawn', in which Kristen's alter-ego's baby eats her from inside, he was shocked by how "thin and ghastly" she looks.

He told Premiere magazine: "There are scenes were Bella looks like an alien. When the baby eats her from inside, she looks so thin and ghastly.

"Kristen had to wear this horrible makeup and when I'd see her come on set, I'd ask the crew, 'Are you sure we're filming 'Twilight'? Isn't it supposed to be harmless and PG-13?'"

Despite Robert's concern over his girlfriend's shocking look in the latest 'Twilight' movie, Kristen recently admitted she "loves" playing a vampire.

She said: "I f***ing love being a vampire. I was 17 when I read 'Twilight,' and at the time it was so perfect for me.

"The script was about young kids who think they can handle stuff that they just can't. And they're going to do it anyway. Because, why not? Just torture yourself. I relate to that. Vampires are a little dangerous - and we girls like to test ourselves."

The 'Twilight' stars - who have long been rumoured to be a real life couple - attended a concert by the band Jenny and Johnny at Troubadour in Los Angeles earlier this week, and managed to enjoy a night of almost complete anonymity despite their global fame.

A source said: "It's very easy for people to blend in which they did amazingly well.

"Almost nobody recognised the two while they were there. The staff was aware, as they get famous people watching shows there all the time and are willing to accommodate their needs if needed."

Despite managing to go unseen by the majority of concert-goers, some did notice they were behaving as if they were a couple and spent the night "extremely close" to each other.

The onlooker told Hollywood Life: "They were close to each other with Kristen in front of Rob almost all night. They never hid the fact they were obviously a couple, they were extremely close the entire time they both were there.

"It looked like they were both enjoying the music but it was Kristen who enjoyed it the most as she was seen singing the songs and there were times she sang songs to Rob, while Rob just smiled and laughed that Kristen was loving it."

It is the second time this week the couple have ventured out and made it clear they were romantically involved - last Saturday (02.10.10) the pair enjoyed a meal out at top Hollywood restaurant Soho House.

A source said: "They were staring at each other throughout dinner and kept stealing quick kisses from one another during the night. Rob's arm was around her for most of dinner and they kept looking at each other and giggling throughout the evening. They are definitely into each other."

"New Moon" aims for big bite from box offices

Hollywood watchers think vampire romance "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" could take a nearly $100 million bite from movie theater box offices when it debuts this weekend, and score one of the biggest openings ever for a non-summer film.

"New Moon," which debuts in the United States and Canada on Friday, is independent studio Summit Entertainment's sequel to last year's "Twilight," which surpassed expectations by making $69.6 million in its first weekend.

Exactly one year later, no one will be surprised if "New Moon" has a blockbuster opening in domestic markets, but the question is just how big it will be.

The film follows the romance between high school student Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen, and her friendship with Jacob Black, a werewolf. It has a built-in audience from the first movie and from millions of readers of the "Twilight" books by Stephenie Meyer on which the movies are based.

"I have huge expectations for the movie," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of the box office division of film website Hollywood.com. "I'm not going to say it's going to exceed it, but a $100 million opening weekend I think is totally in the cards for this one."

Jeff Bock, box office analyst with tracking firm Exhibitor Relations Co Inc, also believes the film could make nearly $100 million, and a source close to Summit said it could rake in nearly $85 million.

The film is slated to debut in 4,024 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, which is not a record but is far more than the roughly 3,500 theaters in which major releases normally open.

If "New Moon" reaches the $100 million mark, it will approach the record $102 million for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," which debuted in November 2005 and sits atop the charts as the biggest opening weekends outside Hollywood's blockbuster-heavy summer season of May to August.

Online ticket sellers Fandango.com and MovieTickets.com reported this week that "New Moon" is their biggest advance ticket seller of all time.

The film is unusual for an expected blockbuster because of its heavy romance and appeal to young women, elements not typically seen in other mega-hits like the "Spider-Man" or "Transformer" aimed mostly at teenage boys and filled with action and special effects.

In an informal Fandango.com survey, 66 percent of respondents said "New Moon's" love story is its biggest draw.

Summit has sought to increase "New Moon's" appeal to boys by featuring action sequences from the film in TV commercials.

Bock said last year's "Twilight" opened to an audience that was 75 percent female, and if "New Moon" reaches just slightly more males it will exceed "Twilight's" success -- something other box office watchers said is likely.

"Girls are going to drag their boyfriends to it," Dergarabedian said.

Kristen Stewart on ‘The Twilight Saga’: I take Bella ‘to the next level’

“Twilight” fans who think they’ve seen it all should get ready for more, according to franchise star Kristen Stewart.

In the October issue of Interview magazine, the star told interviewer Dennis Hopper – in a conversation conducted before the actor’s recent hospital stay – that she’s taking her character up a notch.

“Usually, at the end of a film it’s like I’ve finally gotten to know this person completely, and then we’re done,” Kristen explained. “That actually happened on the set of ‘Twilight,’ and then it happened again on ‘New Moon.’ Each time my character Bella [Swan] became a different person, and I got to know that person and take her to the next level.”

But with millions of fans of the books and film franchise waiting to see where the movies will go next, Kristen said being Bella isn’t easy.

“I have a responsibility… to everyone who has personal involvement in the books—and now that spans the world. It’s an insane concept,” she said. “All of these girls who are fans personally feel like they encapsulate that character. So it’s like, ‘How the hell am I going to do that for all of them? It’s impossible!’ But I’ve decided, if you’re just unabashedly honest all of the time, you have nothing to be ashamed of.”

With filming in progress for the third installment, “Eclipse,” Kristen said that though the movies are filled with vampires and werewolves, they could’ve gone even darker.

“The movies aren’t that dark, as much as we’d all have loved to have made those films,” she said, explaining that they had to connect with fans of every age. “You always have to realize that the story needs to make sense to the 11-year-olds who read the book and aren’t necessarily going to be viewing a scene as foreplay. But then there is the other segment of the audience—a large percentage—who does see the scene as foreplay. And it’s pretty deep, heady foreplay. So it’s fun to play it both ways.”

Being in the public eye – and the tabloids – has been less fun for the actress, who said she spends most of her nights in her hotel room.

“The only way for me not to have somebody know where I went the night before is if I didn’t go out at all. So that’s what I’m trading. It depends what mood I’m in,” she said. “Some nights, I think, ‘You know what? I don’t care. I’m just going to do what I want to do.’ Then the next day I think, ‘Ugh. Now everyone thinks I’m going out to get the attention.’ But it’s like, no, I actually, for a second, thought that maybe I could be like a normal person.”

The next installment in “The Twilight Saga,” “New Moon,” hits theaters on November 20.

"Twilight" sequel draws fangirls by the thousands

Most camped out overnight. Some spent two nights outside the San Diego Convention Center. They wore homemade T-shirts, made friends with fellow fans and talked about their allegiance to Team Edward or Team Jacob.

They are the "Twilight" fangirls, and they came to Comic Con by the thousands to see the movie's stars in person at a panel Thursday for the film's sequel.

Director Chris Weitz was joined by Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene.

High-pitched screams drowned out the introductions.

Those same shrill screams (of joy) also threatened to overwhelm the dialogue during the clip filmmakers showed.

The clip shows Jacob (Lautner) teaching Bella Swan (Stewart) how to ride a motorcycle, but she's distracted by visions of the vampire Edward (Pattinson) with whom she fell in love. She crashes, and Jacob takes off his shirt to soothe her wound, provoking more fangirl screams. Lautner famously gained more than 20 pounds of muscle since for the role.

Pattinson, who was greeted with adoring screams when made his Comic Con debut with "Twilight" last year, said the event was "an eye-opener, and it's just gotten bigger and bigger since."

"None of us saw it coming," Lautner added.

"It's a little overwhelming to have so many people here," Stewart said, "but I guess it's a good thing."

Kristen Stewart not expecting Robert Pattinson's baby

Australian tabloid, New Weekly is claiming that Kristen is pregnant by Rob and that they are, in fact, dating.

An insider said, “When Kristen worked out she was late, she obviously started to thinking that she could be pregnant. And because of the timing, she thinks Rob could be the father.”

She reportedly had a friend haul butt to the local drug store to purchase a pregnancy test for her, and that she is “very nervous about the whole situation.”

Both "Twilight" stars did not give any comment. Pattinson’s rep finds the rumor too silly to dignify a response, “We don’t comment on anything like that.”

However, a source on the set of Kristen's new movie "The Runaways" has heard the actress denied the pregnancy rumors.

When Kristen met Joan Jett, the real character that she portrays in the movie about the rock band, on the set in California, they "managed to have a laugh about the rumor." The insider added, "Kristen just thought it was ridiculous."

The 23-year-old British actor - who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the hit film - was seen checking into a Los Angeles hotel with Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, following an intimate dinner together after the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night (31.06.09).

The pair - who are both believed to be in relationships with other people - dined at Cecconi's until around 11pm, where they were accompanied by a police escort to The Charlie Hotel in West Hollywood. They didn't leave their private bungalow until noon the following day.

A source told gossip website X17online: "Robert was preoccupied with getting all of his stuff in the car and Kristen was hiding behind her sunglasses, looking a little tired, but waiting to say goodbye. Right before Robert got in the SUV, the couple stood together behind the car door and I'm pretty sure there was a brief kiss!"

Robert - who has been pictured several times with stunning blonde Erika Dutra, sparking speculation she is his girlfriend - was then driven to LAX airport while Kristen - who has been dating actor Michael Arangano for several months - returned to the bungalow.

Kristen, 19, has previously blasted reports she is romantically involved with Robert.

She said: "It's just totally false. Robert and I are good friends. We went through a lot together, so we feel very close. But if we go out in public, every little detail is scrutinised, like the way I stand next to him.

"And it's like, I know the guy really f***ing well. It's only natural that we sort of lean on each other, because we're put in the most f***ing psychotic situations."

The 18-year-old actress - who is dating 'Will and Grace' star Michael Angarano - said Pattinson was so "into" his character while filming the vampire movie he convinced himself he was in love with her.

She said: "Rob is very mysterious and very intense - and totally crazy. He proposed to me one day! Pattinson added: "I can't believe I did that! That's really getting into character. It's pretty extreme."

Most girls would kill to be in Stewart's position, but she insists there is nothing "going on" between her and Pattinson, 22. Stewart said: "I'm sure he's proposed to loads of girls before. He's a complete jokester!"

Pattinson agrees: "My favourite chat-up line when I was younger was to go straight up to a girl and say, 'Will you marry me? I don't want to mess around'. These days, Pattinson is less outrageous, but claims he will never be as clean-cut as 'High School Musical' star Zac Efron.

He said: "I don't think I could be the new Zac. I've met him and he's really good at not offending anyone. He's a really cool guy in reality. "He'll never do anything that'll be misconstrued. No one will ever say, 'Oh that guy is an idiot.' There's nothing bad you can say about him, whereas I'm told I'm an idiot - frequently!"

"Twilight" director to reveal behind-the-scenes secrets

The director of the phenomenally successful teen vampire romance Twilight will reveal details of how the movie was made, according to media reports on Thursday.

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, the division of Hachette Book Group, will release "Twilight: Director's Notebook" on March 17, the company said on Wednesday.

The book is timed to take advantage of the hype surrounding the vampire romance movie as its DVD comes out on March 21.

In the book, Catherine Hardwicke will discuss how she went about casting Pattinson, 22, Stewart, 18, Taylor Lautner, 16. The book will contain behind-the-scenes photos and storyboard sketches, and will closely follow the director's personal notebook she kept on set.

"With this book, I tried to show fans and future directors some of the process that the crew and I went through filming Twilight," Hardwicke told Entertainment Weekly.

Vampire romance "Twilight" hurtled Kristen Stewart to the kind of fame that can turn a life into a roller coaster ride, so it seems appropriate that her new movie revolves around an amusement park.

"Adventureland," which premiered this week at the Sundance Film Festival, is one of a string of quirky movies Stewart, 18, has starred-in since her first film at age 11.

But none of those movies ever brought the actress the sort of attention she has received the last two months since "Twilight" struck gold at box offices with more than $324 million worldwide since its November debut.

In the movie, Stewart portrayed Bella Swan, a love-struck teen adored by millions of young girls after they began devouring the series of books on which the movie is based.

Stewart is a child of Hollywood -- the daughter of a stage manager and a script supervisor -- and her Los Angeles upbringing provided a close up view of fame that has helped her handle the three-ring media circus of Hollywood celebrity.

"I grew up on a set," she told Reuters at Sundance. "I don't take it as seriously, and then at the same time I take it more seriously than anyone. It's like a balance."

"Adventureland" is a coming-of-age movie about a recent college graduate named James, played by "The Squid and the Whale" star Jesse Eisenberg, who takes a summer job at an amusement park.

There, he falls in love with a tortured but sincere young carnival worker named Em Lewin (Stewart) and finds that true love is an adventure in and of itself.

THE MEDIA GLARE

Miramax Films will release the movie in March, following its premiere at Sundance -- the No. 1 U.S. gathering for independent film. At the festival, a quirky and offbeat love story like "Adventureland" can gain the kind of media attention it needs to lure audiences to box offices.

"Adventureland" director Greg Mottola, who made 2007 hit comedy "Superbad," said he has counseled Stewart about handling fame and fortune because the microscopic scrutiny by the media can be overwhelming for a teenager.

"I think there are some people who have some innate movie star gene that lets them just walk into that, like a George Clooney," he said. "But it didn't happen to him when he was that young. So I feel for her, that's a really hard thing."

She may be young, but Stewart already is something of a veteran and appears to handle the media glare well and she wants to stay active in Hollywood.

Already she has 16 movies on her filmography including "Panic Room," "The Cake Eaters," "Into the Wild" and "What Just Happened." Her first role was 2001's "The Safety of Objects," about suburban families whose lives intertwine.

With upcoming roles as rocker Joan Jett in a biopic and again playing Bella in "New Moon," the next installment in the "Twilight" franchise, Stewart said she has no immediate plans to attend college.

"Not now, maybe if I can grow up a little bit," she said. "But not yet, I can't. It's just I've had a lot of demands put on me for quite a long time."

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has revealed that he is attracted to women who are slightly mad.

When asked about what qualities does he look for in his girl, the 22-year-old heartthrob said that he likes his ladies to be "mental, strong women."

"The stuff I find attractive in women, I always regret finding attractive," Contactmusic quoted him as telling British magazine Closer.

"I always like a kind of madness in a woman, and when they are really, really strong. And they're the worst - mental, strong women!

"But I like it when they hate me right from the beginning," he added.
