Lily Allen not herself

Lily Allen claims her pop star persona is a character she has "no control over".

The 'Not Fair' singer told how people instantly think they know her because they relate to her autobiographical songs, but she is very different from the character she sings about.

She said: "I've had enough of being me. I've had enough of being Lily Allen, I want to be me now.

"Whatever situation I'm in, whether it's going to the supermarket, the pub or a club, or in the back of a cab, people think they know me. And the reality is they don't. Lily Allen is a character I have no control over. I've got nothing to do with it except my face is the one that goes with it."

The 24-year-old pop star also said winning a BRIT award - one of the highest accolades in music in the UK - for British Female Solo Artist this February meant "absolutely nothing" to her.

She added: "I got a BRIT Award recently. And that was something four years ago that I would have died for.

"But when I finally got that award it meant absolutely nothing to me. Because I now know that The BRIT Awards is a TV show. Record company executives make deals with a TVC channel and the producers about who wins what award in exchange for performance time.

"So it's just become a non-award, like 'thank you for this'."

Following the success of her second album, 'It's Not Me, It's You' Lily is taking a break from music to pursue other business ventures which reportedly include starting a record label and a clothes hire shop.

Lily Allen dating decorator

Lily Allen is dating a painter-and-decorator.

The 'Fear' singer - who has previously dated Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons, record executive Seb Chew and art dealer Jay Jopling - is reportedly romancing house painter Sam Cooper after wanting a boyfriend who was closer to her own age and out of the limelight.

"Lily is tired of only ever being involved with well-known men. She wanted to go out with someone her own age who isn't involved in music or media.

"Sam works hard as a painter and decorator and leads a totally normal life. Lily is completely smitten with him. They have known each other for a while but have only just started dating properly."

The couple made their first public appearance on Tuesday (21.07.09) when they joined artist Damien Hirst - a friend of the 24-year-old singer's family - for dinner at London restaurant Scott's.

Despite Sam reportedly being just a few years older than the 'Smile' singer, Lily recently said she expected her next lover to be 60 years old.

She said: "It's funny because my boyfriends have gone up in terms of age and how much money they make.

"Lester Lloyd was a 20-year-old DJ and had no money, Seb Chew was 30 and had a bit more as a record executive, Ed Simons was 40 and had a bit more and Jay is pushing 50.

"That means the next one is probably going to be 60. I like them old and rich."

Lily Allen looking for love

'Not Fair' singer Lily Allen has asked her friends to set her up on a date with a new man.

Lily Allen is desperate for a boyfriend.

The 'Fear' singer - whose latest relationship with art dealer Jay Jopling ended after a month - hates attending showbiz parties alone and has begged friends to set her up with a new man.

A source said: "Lily hates being single - she needs a man in her life. She feels insecure going to events and hates turning up without a man. She wants someone to hold her hand for all the red carpet events she attends.

"She's even been asking friends to set her up on dates. She can't seem to meet anyone, and it's making her miserable."

The 24-year-old singer - who has previously dated DJ Seb Chew, 32, and Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons, 39 - is also concerned about the effect her upcoming UK tour will have on her if she is still single.

The source added: "Lily's vulnerable after her relationships failed. She is especially concerned about going on her tour without a boyfriend there for her backstage. She needs a man to take care of her, and to give her attention. Without that, she fears she'll go off the rails."

Lily Allen's spinster fears

Lily Allen fears she will be "alone forever".

The 'It's Not Fair' singer - who has had a string of failed relationships - was sent into a romantic depression after watching 'He's Just Not That Into You', which is about a group of unlucky-in-love women.

Referring to the movie, which stars Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore, Lily wrote on her Twitter page: "watching "he's just not that into you". i think i may be alone forever. Sad (sic)" The 24-year-old singer's most recent romance with 45-year-old art dealer Jay Jopling ended earlier this year after just one month.

She had an on-off romance with Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons, 38, last year, and previously had a three-year relationship with music executive Seb Chew.

Lily recently explained her attraction to older men by claiming she has nothing in common with men her own age. She said: "The next one is probably going to be 60. I like them old and rich."

Lily Allen's Collins' cold shoulder

The 'Not Fair' singer met the former 'Dynasty' star at a London party and went to give her a friendly greeting kiss on 30 April.

However, Joan - famed for her outspoken remarks - seemingly refused the offer, claiming she didn't exchange kisses with strangers.

Speaking about the meeting at the bash to celebrate 100 years of London store Selfridges, Lily wrote on her Twitter webpage: "I was just introduced to Joan Collins, shook her hand and went to kiss her on the cheek. 'I don't kiss people I don't know.' AMAZING!"

This is not the first time Lily has been snubbed by another celebrity.

Last year, Lily revealed she was desperate to record a duet with Take That but was turned down by their management.

Talking about a song on her new album, which was inspired by the reformed British boy band, the star revealed: "I asked them to sing on it and they were like, 'Yes!' Then Elton John called them.

"He spoke to Gary Barlow and asked him to do it. But the manager said no."

Lily Allen plans tattoo

Lily Allen wants to get a tattoo saying "shut up" to remind her to be quiet.

The 'Fear' singer claims she needs a permanent reminder of the perils of voicing her opinions.

She said: "In fact I'm getting a tattoo on my wrist that says, 'Shut up!' Perhaps it will remind me to keep my mouth shut when I shouldn't say certain things - that might make my life easier."

The 23-year-old singer hopes if she can learn not to reveal the intimate details of her life people will stop being so interested in her.

She said: "I can see why Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse go nutty. All the attention I've been getting lately is surreal, and invasive, intrusive and weird. Whenever I open my door there are people with cameras outside. I'm trapped in my own home."

If the 'Smile' star goes ahead with the new body art she should double check she is not copying anyone else.

The singer and pal Lindsay Lohan recently had 'Shh...' tattooed on their index fingers and the British star was unhappy after learning 'Umbrella' singer Rihanna already had an identical inking.

Lily said: "I've since found out Rihanna's got the same thing, so it's not really - I mean she's very cool - but I thought I was being original."

Lily Allen unhappy with tattoo

Lily Allen is already regretting her latest tattoo. Both Lily and US actress Lindsay Lohan recently got "shhh..." tattooed on their index fingers after a drunken night partying in Los Angeles.

But Lily didn't realise she was actually a copying 'Umbrella' singer Rihanna, who had the design etched on last year. She said: "I've since found out Rihanna's got the same thing, so it's not really - I mean she's very cool - but I thought I was being original."

Friends are saying Lily is a bad influence on Lindsay and the actress' girlfriend Samantha Ronson is regretting introducing the pair. Lily worked with Samantha's brother Mark on her debut album 'Alright, Still', and is good friends with them.

Sam recently played an acoustic show in Los Angeles and dedicated a song with lyrics about being "out of control" to Lindsay - leading to another in a long line of blazing rows between the couple.

Lily Allen's model doubts

Lily Allen does not think she is a good role model.

The 'Smile' singer - who previously revealed she tried ecstasy at the age of 14 - believes young people should look up to family members rather than celebrities they have never met.

Lily said: "I think role models should be aunts and uncles, mothers and sisters and brothers. Why would you want to put someone on a pedestal that you know nothing about?"

However, the 23-year-old has also revealed she is toning down her hell-raising lifestyle and refuses to be influenced by her wild friends.

She added: "My mates are in a totally different place. I've grown up so much and they are still all into going out dancing and taking drugs.

"I hang out with much older people. I go for dinners at posh places and talk about art."

The 23-year-old beauty - who recently revealed she will quit her music career when she finds the right man - also says she dreams of starting a family.

She said: "I don't think I want to be doing this at the same times as that. I certainly wouldn't want to mix the two. But I do enjoy it."

Lily Allen: Fame is ruining my sex life.

Lily Allen says fame is ruining her sex life.

The 23-year-old singer - who has previously been romantically linked to DJ Seb Chew and Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons - feels that her celebrity status affects her relationships.

She said: "I have had a couple of times when I've got to know someone over a few weeks and we've had a really great time at my London apartment, just watching TV and having sex.

"And then I get paranoid because I get like, 'I don't want to leave the house with you because I don't want us to be photographed together and for us to suddenly have to justify our relationship, when we don't know what it is yet."

Lily also revealed she would never want to date anyone that wasn't famous because she would think they are using her to make themselves famous.

She added to The Observer Music Monthly magazine: "If I meet someone who is not part of the showbiz industry, I think, 'Should I sleep with this person?

Are they going to walk out of here and be straight on their phone?' "Or you feel, 'Oh, it's gone naff', because they are secretly enjoying having their photograph taken. I guess that's why people go out with famous people."

Lily Allen wins at Glamour Women of the Year Awards

Lily Allen wins at Glamour Women of the Year Awards

Lily Allen and the Spice Girls were among the winners at last night's Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

Lily - who dyed her hair a shocking bright pink for the occasion - received the Editor's Special Award in recognition of her career as a singer, TV presenter and style queen.

Lily Allen

Introducing Lily at the event in London's Berkeley Square Gardens, Glamour magazine editor Jo Elvin said: "With reams of column inches to match her considerable talents, no Women of the Year line-up could be complete without the one and only Lily Allen."

As well as debuting her new hair colour at the event, Lily shocked onlookers by wearing a pale pink dress decorated with 'Bambis', the baby deer immortalised in the Disney film of the same name, with their throats slit.

Commenting on her new hair colour, Lily said: "I did it myself in the bathroom. I'm happy with it."

Lily celebrated her win with numerous drinks, and was seen later in the evening being propped up by her music producer friend Mark Ronson. The worse-for-wear star eventually had to be carried out.

The Spice Girls were named Band of the Year after their triumphant comeback world tour earlier this year.

Geri, Emma Bunton and Mel B were all present to collect their accolade.

Other winners included Kate Beckinsale who was named Actress of the Year and Kate Moss who won Entrepreneur of the Year for her Topshop fashion range.

Ronson was the lone male winner - he picked up the coveted Man of the Year award, and attended the event with his model girlfriend Daisy Lowe.

The awards are voted for by the readers of Britain's Glamour magazine.
