Chinese director-actress Xu Jinglei promotes her upcoming film "Du Lala's Promotion" with American costume designer Patricia Field and cast members at a press conference in Beijing on August 6, 2009. Xu has invited Field, who has won several awards for designing costumes for the stylish television series "Sex and the City" to be a costume advisor for "Du Lala's Promotion", Sina.com.cn reports.
Field showed up Thursday with Xu and the film's cast members at a press conference in Beijing. The fashion guru told reporters her experience in China had been pleasant.
"Du Lala's Promotion", adapted from a bestselling Chinese novel of the same name, centers on a woman named Du Lala who takes the high road to get promoted.
Xu Jinglei, who is also a popular actress, plays the lead character. The film also boasts a cast of fashionistas, including model-turned actresses Pace Wu and Li Ai, as well as hip-hop star Stanley Huang.
"Du Lala" is Xu's fourth film as a director. It is scheduled to be released next spring.
