Former Jackson family lawyer Brian Oxman claims officers have searched the Beverly Hills property Michael - who died of a suspected cardiac arrest yesterday (25.06.09) - rented, and took away various items.
He told Life and Style magazine: "Police seized bags of material from his house. They were looking for drug vials and syringes. I don't know if they found syringes, but there would have been a lot of drug vials."
Oxman has previously claimed the 50-year-old singer's death was due to the pressure he was under ahead of his 'This Is It' tour in London, claiming he had resorted to taking a cocktail of prescription drugs to ensure he was fit enough to perform.
The lawyer now says he will be willing to give vital information to the police concerning Michael's alleged use of prescription medication - he is believed to have been using several medications including painkiller Demerol - if an autopsy finds it played a role in his death.
Oxman said: "I did warn him about the drugs, but I am sorry I didn't warn him enough. I am going to wait until I get the toxicology report, and if his death has something to do with drugs, I am prepared to name names of doctors who prescribed them."
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has confiscated a BMW car from Michael's property and are looking for the doctor who lived at the star's home.
The autopsy is currently being carried out by Dr. Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran in Los Angeles. Results of toxicology tests could take up to eight weeks.
Explaining there were likely be no results today (26.06.09), assistant chief coroner Lieutenant Ed Winter said: "We're conducting it as we do any other exam."
However, if the procedure does uncover what the cause of death was, it has been claimed it could be announced.
It is alleged Michael's family were so concerned with his use of prescription drugs they confronted him in 2006.
Referring to several of Michael's siblings, a source told People magazine: "The family believes Michael is addicted. There was an intervention in Las Vegas. Janet was on the phone, but Randy, Jackie and Rebbie were there in person.
"Michael got p***ed off. He said he wasn't on drugs. But they didn't believe him."
At the time of the intervention, another source close to the family insisted an aide of Michael's was giving him the medication.
The insider said: "The aide has contacts wherever they are. Michael takes straight morphine, Demerol and opiates like Oxycontin. He also takes Valium and Xanax."
Meanwhile, it has been claimed that Michael's ex-wife Debbie Rowe - with who he had two children, Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11 - could be given full custody of the children.
It was previously thought Debbie gave up her parental rights after the pair's 1999 divorce, but it has now been claimed she never did.
If true, under Californian law Debbie is the person who will likely get custody.
Michael also has another son, seven-year-old Prince Michael II.

MICHAEL THE NARC-ANGEL
Millions of little members of the worldwide F.F.A. (Future Followers of the Antichrist) have finally learned how to find a certain part of their lower anatomy and quickly touch it while dancing - thanks to Michael Jackson, the highest paid Lower Anatomy Toucher of all time! Special thanks also go to the Jesus-bashing, Hell-bound Hollywood moguls who were just as quick to see higher profits in lower anatomies! [Just saw this opinion on the web. Other grabby items on MSN, Google, etc. include "Separation of Raunch and State," "David Letterman's Hate, Etc.," "Tribulation Index becomes Rapture Index," and "Bible Verses Obama Avoids." - something for everyone!]
