Coco Lee promotes "Bring Your Own Bag" campaign

Hong Kong-born singer Coco Lee poses for photographers during an Earth Day promotional event titled "Bring Your Own Bag" (BYOB) in Taipei April 20, 2009. Earth Day will be celebrated on April 22.

"Bring your own bag and stop using plastic bags" was the message highlighted by Chinese pop star Coco Lee on Monday prior to the annual Earth Day.

Lee, who has been invited by the National Geographic to speak for the Earth Day on April 22, promoted the idea of BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag) at a press conference in Taipei.

The singer, who used to study bioscience at the University of California Irvine, says she is deeply concerned about the challenges brought to the Earth by global warming and in particular the huge daily consumption of plastic bags.

"It's time to re-think about our way of living," Lee said as she released a music video entitled "BYOB", calling on people to start saving the Earth by stopping using plastic bags.

The video will soon be available on DVDs. Proceeds from its sales will be used to finance various environmental campaigns.
